CNC Machine Operator

C&S is looking for a skilled CNC Machine Operator to set up, maintain and operate machinery. You’ll ensure the continuous and efficient running of production.

A great machine operator is reliable and able to work with attention to detail and safety standards. On-the-job training is a good way to discover how to do the job better, so you should have willingness to learn and improve. Being a team player is essential since all tasks will require close collaboration with co-workers.

The goal will be to ensure that production procedures will be carried on smoothly to maximize efficiency, profits as well as maintaining the highest quality parts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Set up machines (calibration, cleaning, etc.) to start a production cycle.
  2. Program machines (depending on experience level)
  3. Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed).
  4. Feed raw material or parts to semi-automated machines.
  5. Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools. 
  6. Test operation of machines periodically.
  7. Fix issues that might occur during the shift.
  8. Check output to spot any machine-related mistakes or flaws.
  9. Keep records of approved and defective units or final products.
  10. Maintain activity logs.
  11. Must work in a conscientious fashion, keep work area and equipment neat and clean and practice basic safety habits.
  12. Must be willing to be trained to program and set-up.
  13. Responsible to verify changes to production processes are assessed to confirm that the desired effect has been achieved without adverse effects to product conformity.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a machine operator preferred
  • Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools (caliper, micrometer, etc.)
  • Understanding of production procedures
  • Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear)
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
  • Analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Teamwork and communication skills
  • Physical stamina and strength

MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

At least a high school diploma or GED or must be currently attending high school while working as a co-op student.

Must be developing a working background of machine experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Must be able to perform basic math skills and keep accurate product counts.

REASONING ABILITY

C&S Offers a great 2nd shift incentive. Earn an extra $45/night or $450/pay check by working 2nd shift hours!

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty with exceptional accuracy and punctuality. Excellent communication and organizational skills required. Must be able to handle stress and conflict while keeping a good attitude.

PREFERRED MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

At least a high school diploma or G.E.D. Previous manufacturing experience as well as knowledge and understanding of ERP systems a plus.

PREFERRED SKILLS AS FOLLOWS:

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to communicate effectively with customers, production personnel, department supervisors, engineering, and upper level management.

MATHMATICAL SKILLS

Must possess excellent math skills that would be fully applicable to any possible business or manufacturing situation. Ideally the individual should be familiar with: General Math (all aspects).

REASONING ABILITY

Must possess the ability to think abstractly, to reason, to solve problems, and a strong capability to acquire new knowledge.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel and spreadsheets.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Previous sales experience and/or customer service experience would be beneficial.

Scheduling experience in an industrial setting would also be helpful.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Professional, very upbeat, and positive attitude.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team atmosphere.

Ability to organize and bring to completion multiple tasks and projects.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit in front of a computer for long periods of time.
